SB 53 (2021)
Establish local "community preservation and resilience" programs
This bill became law.
Enables municipalities to establish a "community preservation and resilience" program and fund through adoption of a surcharge on real property (no more than 2% of the real estate tax). The program could send funding to everything from preservation of open space to renewable energy projects to community housing.
The Senate completely rewrote the bill to instead provide that certain records relative to the assessing standards board and the certification of assessors shall be exempt from Department of Revenue Administration confidentiality requirements.
