SB 538 (2026)
Extend net metering eligibility for municipal projects
This bill is still active.
Extends the eligibility period for municipal customer-generators to receive net metering compensation under alternative tariffs to a minimum of the 15 years from the first year in which compensation is received, or until December 31, 2040, whichever is longer. The bill aims to ensure municipal renewable energy projects remain economically viable despite interconnection delays.
A conference committee of representatives and senators changed the length to 20 years from the first day on which compensation is received.
