SB 657 (2026)
Add AI to existing state technology duties, require report on state agency use of AI
This bill is still active.
Creates a study commission to oversee the use of artificial intelligence in the state.
As introduced, this bill also established an artificial intelligence (AI) oversight position with the Department of Justice and created a right to sue over "deceptive use of artificial intelligence." The Senate removed those parts of the bill.
The House then rewrote the bill. Their version of the bill directs the Information Technology Council to provide guidance related to AI, allows the Department of Technology to establish an artificial intelligence-related advisement committee, and requires the Department of Technology to submit an annual report detailing state agency use of artificial intelligence systems.
