SB 688 (2020)

Add drug pricing to the Consumer Protection Act

Requires the Department of Health and Human Services to notify the Department of Justice of large price increases for essential off-patent or generic drugs. The bill authorizes the Department of Justice to investigate when notified of suspected price gouging. The Senate amended the bill to instead make clear that unfair pricing of generic prescription drugs falls under the Consumer Protection Act. The Senate added this bill to HB 1280.
