SB 72 (2023)
Require insurers to act on change of status requests
This bill became law.
As introduced, this bill stated, "any changes in provider demographics, to include practice location or practice ownership, shall not result in any disruption in the network participation status of provider."
The Senate completely rewrote the bill. The amended bill directs an insurance carrier to act on a change of status request within 30 days or notify the provider of the reason for the delay or inability to act. The bill also directs the insurance commissioner to accept and record complaints regarding health carrier compliance with credentialing procedures.
