SB 86 (2023)
Increase Medicaid reimbursement rates, require reports on community health worker certification and health services in rural areas
Directs the Department of Health and Human Services to increase Medicaid provider rates.
This bill also establishes a community health worker certification program in the Office of Professional Licensure and Certification (OPLC). The Senate rewrote this part of the bill to instead require a report from the OPLC on certified community health workers.
Lastly, this bill directs the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to request proposals for a program to expand access to health services in rural and underserved areas. The Senate rewrote this part of the bill to instead require a report from DHHS relative to implementing area health education centers and advanced training programs for rural health and primary care personnel.
The Senate passed and then tabled this bill, which often indicates support to include this spending item in the state budget bill.
