Position on Issues

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Do you support the “Education Freedom Account” program, which gives students access to the per-pupil share of state school funding to spend on private school or home school expenses?

"Public schools are the bulwark of a steady educational environment for all its citizens, regardless of income level. Private and home schooling distorts the body politic, creating class division that leads to increased polarization among peoples of varied backgrounds. Removing the 'melting pot' that creates America's "more perfect union" will instead produce a fragmented and insular society at war with itself and ultimately weakened on the global stage."

Should New Hampshire ban abortions during the first trimester (e.g. after 6 weeks gestation)?

"All these decisions should be made between patients, their families, and their health care providers. The government should stay out these issues entirely."

Should New Hampshire ban abortions during the second trimester (e.g. after 15 weeks gestation)?

"All these decisions should be made between patients, their families, and their health care providers. The government should stay out these issues entirely."

Should NH add an income tax on earned income?

"Against"

Should New Hampshire lower business taxes?

"The State needs revenue. If it is not through a sales or income tax, then it needs to come from somewhere. I am willing to discuss methods with legislators. We need to support essential services, but with a balance budget. Nobody likes taxes. I do believe tourism will not suffer if we implement a sales tax. The southern border will be affected of course, so I do not believe enough support can be cobbled together for a sales tax at this time. Many more tax and revenue accrual discussions are required to reflect the opinions of all parties in our state. I am open to those discussions."

Should the state do more to encourage municipalities to remove zoning barriers to housing development?

"Municipalities would still retain final jurisdiction over location and code requirements for multi-family housing."

Do you support legislation to expand the net energy metering system capacity cap from 1 MW to 5 MW for all residential and commercial customers in New Hampshire?

Should New Hampshire guarantee the right to access abortion before 24 weeks?

Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2024

Do you support New Hampshire’s current system of public school funding, with about two-thirds of total funding coming from local property taxes?

"The current system keeps poorer communities at a disadvantage for the education of their children. While the wealthy might oppose helping those less fortunate, a robust civilization depends on a well-educated population required to attract good companies and keep all businesses thriving through the increased wage growth of its citizens."

Should New Hampshire legalize the recreational use of marijuana by allowing home-growing and private use without sales?

"You can bottle your own beer at home, buy it at stores and only sell the 'hard stuff' through state-run stores. Cannabis should be set up using the same business model. If your 'home brew' reaches commercial levels, then it should fall under commercial licensing programs. Certain high resin content products would fall under state control."

Should NH pass stricter gun control laws?

"Guns and automobiles are both potentially lethal weapons. Guns should be regulated just as cars are. Licenses, testing for license approval, even inspections, should be the law of the land. And, as a gun can do a lot more human damage in a short period of time than a drunk driver can, background checks should be required. The licensing procedure would be another income source for the state."
