"New Hampshire already recognized this principle in girls' sports through HB 1205, the Fairness in Women's Sports Act, which requires school athletic teams to be designated by sex and prohibits biological males from participating in female athletics. The U.S. Supreme Court has now reinforced that states may protect girls' and women's sports based on biological sex, upholding Idaho and West Virginia laws that restrict biological males from competing on girls' and women's teams. "I supported HB 1300 because it gives local taxpayers a direct vote on whether to put a reasonable cap on school budget increases — and, by extension, on the property tax increases that come with them. For too long, families and seniors have been told to simply accept higher and higher school spending, even when they are struggling to keep up with their property tax bills. HB 1300 puts power back where it belongs: in the hands of the voters who pay the bills. It is not Concord micromanaging local schools.
