Do you support abolishing the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency and redistributing its duties?

"We obviously need a means of removing dangerous, undocumented immigrants, but not in an illegal, unconstitutional manner. Recent high-visibility incidents have portrayed ICE throughout the world as a Gestapo-type force that shoots citizens in the face and back, yet they're protected with government immunity. Their mission would be better served by rolling into another, more mature federal law enforcement agency."

Do you support a constitutional amendment limiting terms for U.S. representatives and senators?

"Absolutely. We need to get the professional corruption out of our government and the average citizen back in. Under our present system, once a politician gets it, it's too easy to use the government purse to stay in power. I am in favor of the same term limits for Senators and Representatives as for the President, two terms."

Do you support a constitutional amendment ending automatic birthright citizenship for everyone born on U.S. soil?

"As a protection that this country belongs to the people who inhabit it, birthright citizenship is rightfully contained within the Fourteenth Amendment – as is the clause that an insurrectionist, i.e., someone who tries to overthrow the Constitution by overthrowing a people's election, should never again be allowed to hold office. Birth tourism should be addressed where other incoming tourism is addressed, at the border."

Do you support a constitutional amendment limiting outside funding of campaigns through PACs?

"In the interest of returning our government to where our founders intended, with the people, we must absolutely get the corrupting money out of politics. I would even go further and say that a politician should not be allowed to take money from outside his/her constituency. Dark money, black money, gray money, foreign money – it should all be removed. It's time our government represented the people again, not the money."

Should the federal government combat inflation by requiring budget cuts to match any new federal spending?

"I generally support reducing government spending by addressing inefficiency, which I estimate accounts for up to half of the federal budget. I believe that reducing federal spending by eliminating inefficient waste can be achieved without sacrificing services."

Should the federal government combat inflation by capping price increases by large businesses?

"This approach is problematic and can actually worsen inflation. Historical examples, such as the hyperinflation that followed Nixon's price controls in the 1970s, prove this disastrous point. Instead, we should enforce capitalist laws against monopolistic and predatory practices that harm our free economy by suppressing competition. We must also reengineer our tax code and eliminate unfair carve-outs for lobbied special interests. The tax code needs to be simple so that it can be understood by all."

Do you support the recent U.S. military operation to capture Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro?

"It's a dangerous, bad precedent to start kidnapping foreign country leaders who do not cower to our economic demands. Furthermore, replacing one Venezuelan autocrat with a wholly similar autocratic, albeit one that can be bought off by our President's outside family monetary interests, simply shows a superficial and immoral foreign policy that again lowers our moral standing in the world."

Should the federal government combat inflation by decreasing tariffs on imports from foreign countries?

"I support tariffs when authorized by constitutional authority via Congress, not the unconstitutional imposition by the executive branch as a get-around of the emoluments clause. Further, the American citizens just recently had their money stolen via illegal tariffs, as ruled by the Supreme Court, and they should get their money back."

Do you support revising Title IX to limit participation in female sports based on an individual's reproductive biology and genetics at birth?

"First, I want to say that I'm in favor of protecting the rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for transgender women. Presently, I think they are bullied (and worse), and that should not be tolerated in any way. Regarding Title IX, it is to deny the laws of nature and of nature's God, to deny that the male and female bodies are genetically different from the get-go, the male given far more strength, which gives a wholly unfair advantage in competitions requiring strength. Since juvenile sports competition teaches citizenship and has been shown to drive later leadership success, an area where women are underrepresented, I am not in favor of introducing an unfair advantage. In some competitions, strength does not matter (chess, car racing, etc.), and in such cases, I feel everyone should be treated equally."

Should the federal government ban some abortions?

"Personally, I'd like to see as few abortions as possible, but I recognize there must be reasonable exceptions such as rape, incest, and the health of the mother. I also understand that the United States Supreme Court has ruled that a woman's right to abortion is determined by state law. While I have some personal questions, I understand that the state of New Hampshire has given women the right to abortion up to 23 weeks, and I'll follow the law."

Should the U.S. Constitution have a Balanced Budget Amendment?

"Not because it would be wrong, but because it would be impractical, as there needs to be exceptions for war or recessions. I am in favor of federal laws, not an amendment, requiring balanced spending, with penalties such as suspending congressional pensions (which are not even authorized in the Constitution anyway) if that balance is not met."

Should the federal government pass a law guaranteeing the right to choose abortion before fetal viability (generally 24 weeks gestation)?

"The Supreme Court has ruled that the law rests with the states."

Do you support increasing military aid to Taiwan?

"The reasons are similar to those for Ukraine: legal, strategic, and moral. I do not, however, currently view China as comparable to Russia in propensity for aggression. Therefore, we should be more subtle in our support so as not to force China into retaliation. We should consider strengthening our allied support for Vietnam, Japan, and the Philippines as a counterweight to Chinese power in the region."

Do you support increasing oil and natural gas leases on publicly owned land and water?

"We need to take a very broad and balanced look at all federal lands, but it should be noted that we presently have oil but need water (out west). We should concentrate on this pressing need. It affects agricultural produce throughout America."

Should the federal government reauthorize the Keystone XL pipeline?

"If Canada wants to provide us with oil, I think we'd be prudent to accept. We need to work with both of our neighbors, Mexico and Canada, to develop a mutually beneficial policy for energy and water resources. I am generally in favor of protecting the environment."

Should military aid to Israel include a requirement that Israel take certain actions to reduce civilian casualties?

"But all aid should be administered for defensive purposes only, not for offensive purposes. I believe the Palestinian and Israeli States both have a right to exist, peacefully."

Should Congress pass legislation limiting the ability of large institutional investors to purchase multiple single-family homes for use as rental properties?

"I don't think the federal government should get involved in real estate, as “all real estate is local.” In general, government intervention in private markets should be minimized."

Do you support the option of mail-in ballots for all voters, not just absentees?

"Many states allow very broad voting before election day, and the federal government has no constitutional authority to prohibit these state rights. Personally, I believe America should encourage greater voter participation. Most Americans work, and many feel even busier because they are also raising children. If we can only provide a limited 8-hour daytime voting window, we should offer alternatives, such as mail-in or drop-off voting. The more Americans who vote, the stronger our republic."

Should the government legalize marijuana at the federal level?

"Encouraging drug use weakens our collective citizenship and thus weakens the great republic. I'm not in favor of criminalizing drug use, but I'm not in favor of encouraging it either. An addiction to mind-altering chemicals is a sickness, and it should be treated, not tolerated. New drugs are quite dangerous – far more potent than even 10 years ago."

Should the federal government reform Social Security by requiring means testing?

"It is important to recognize that Social Security is funded by individual contributions, not as an entitlement program. It is only right that if you are an American citizen who has paid in, you should be able to draw out. We need to support and sustain social security."

Should the federal government amend the Affordable Care Act/"Obamacare" by automatically enrolling every citizen in Medicare, replacing most private insurance?

"However, there are significant challenges regarding the affordability of medical care in the United States. Our system is broken. While countries like Israel provide universal, cost-effective medical care for an average of $4,000 per citizen per year (insuring every citizen, $4,000/citizen!), our government itself spends $6,000 per citizen but only insures a fraction of them. Private insurance adds another $6,000 per citizen. And we still don’t insure all citizens. So while Israel is giving excellent care while insuring every citizen at $4,000/citizen, we are spending 3 times that, $12,000/citizen, and not even insuring all citizens. This indicates a need to pursue a more efficient healthcare solution. I am in favor of exploring a basic, inexpensive medical plan for all, nothing fancy, no lung transplants, but just basic preventive or emergency care. If you want more, you buy a supplemental plan on your own. Any such plan must incorporate extensive competition to ensure efficiency."

Should the federal government amend the Affordable Care Act/"Obamacare" by allowing citizens to opt into Medicare if they so choose?

"But it is obvious that our present medical insurance situation is failing the majority of our citizens. To put it bluntly, the entire system is broken – hurting both the government and private insurance companies. The government's Obamacare, for example, allows a 15% profit on underwriting, whereas a normal underwriting fee would be 4%. Likewise, private insurance allows insurers to practice medicine – their job is to process claims, not create an inefficient, bureaucratic system to deny claims, and run the administrative costs up by 30% in the process."

Should the U.S. government continue to provide military aid to Ukraine (without putting U.S. soldiers on the ground)?

"For legal, strategic, and moral reasons, our support for Ukraine is essential. We are a signatory to the Budapest Accords and are legally required to defend Ukraine. The central issue is clear: Putin's current aggression threatens Western democracy, including America's. And morally, we must always stand on the side of liberty. Ukraine has not requested troops, only munitions, and providing American munitions supports American jobs and advances American technology. From a personal side, as a young military officer, I served on nuclear alert against Russia, ready to take off within five minutes' notice as part of the Emergency War Orders retaliatory mission to destroy Russia. The Russians were on nuclear alert for the same purpose against us. It was called MAD, mutual assured destruction. Then and now, we are both part of the family of man, and I hold no animosity against the Russian people, just against their tyrannical leadership. My hope is that the people of Russia recognize the value of their historical culture and economic potential, which is presently suppressed under authoritarian, war-mongering rule. I encourage them to abandon their government of inhumane aggression and reenter the civilized world and reap its benefits."

Should the federal government privatize some or all of Social Security?

"To prevent insolvency, Social Security should be reengineered by allowing up to 50% of the funds to be held in a separate account with quarterly statements, which can be invested in less-risky diversified index funds. This would be good for both the stock and bond markets. Regarding the increased risk, if these markets completely collapse, the government would probably collapse too, tanking Social Security with it."

Should the federal government require voters to provide proof of U.S. citizenship (such as passport or birth certificate) at the time of registration?

"The Constitution gives voting jurisdiction to the states, and if they decide to require proof, so be it. But I do not think this is a problem, just an excuse some weak-minded politicians are using to suppress their opposition or rationalize their losses."

"Although I'm reluctant, I support this measure. If we don't start doing something, Social Security will become insolvent sooner rather than later."

Should the federal government reform Social Security by raising the retirement age from today's age of 67?

"Slowly phase it in. However, another solution is to encourage older workers to continue working if that is their desire. I am opposed to government representatives who vote for policies that perpetuate age discrimination, which forces earlier retirement than workers desire and worsens the Social Security deficit. Additionally, we need to look at the abuse of disability portion. Disability was not in the original charter, and we need to reexamine its effectiveness."

"Increasing revenue does not resolve the problem of government inefficiency. As previously stated, reducing federal deficits should be accomplished by cutting wasteful spending without reducing essential services. Additionally, get the federal government out of areas where it lacks competence."

Should the federal government withhold funds from cities that refuse to cooperate with ICE detainers?

"However, if someone is breaking the law by harboring a criminal, they should be held accountable under the established laws against harboring. Further, I do not understand why the federal government is allocating so much funding to cities in the first place, regardless of ICE."

Should the federal government combat inflation by repealing or revising the Jones Act to allow more foreign involvement in shipping between U.S. ports?

"We need to build ships to remain competitive in the world economy. Presently, we only build from three to five oceangoing commercial vessels annually. This places us far behind global leaders like China, Japan, and South Korea, which collectively build over a thousand large commercial ships per year. South Korea wants to start building ships at the Philadelphia Shipyard. This would provide well-paying jobs and technology know-how."

Do you support reinstating federal consumer tax credits or subsidies for the purchase of electric vehicles?

"But I do think we should not impede their deployment, and I do believe we should build out the infrastructure (charging) for the inevitable. Further, America had a leading position in this new technology, but for political reasons, our current leadership feels compelled to kill this lead."

Should the federal government combat inflation by supporting further Federal Reserve interest rate hikes?

"New Hampshire played a historical role in establishing the International Monetary Fund at the 1944 Bretton Woods Conference, which established the dollar as the coin of the realm. It is now used in 84% of the world's business transactions, and as a result, we benefit greatly. Namely, since we can't seem to balance our government spending, it's important that we have a strong dollar to borrow against, and an independent Fed (not under the influence of a single politician) is essential for that strength. Our currency is labeled Federal Reserve Notes (independent), not a Treasury Note (controlled by the president). It is crucial that the Federal Reserve retain its independence and avoid political influence that prioritizes short-term, selfish benefits over long-term, general welfare. If not, we might soon be buying a loaf of bread with a barrel full of dollars. "

Should the federal government tax carbon emissions?

"Methane gas is 80 times more of a contributing factor to global warming than carbon dioxide, so I feel it's statistically pointless to deal with CO2 emissions. Global warming is indeed a problem. As one example, our New England lobsters are migrating north out of our fishing jurisdiction."

Do you support the United States’ involvement in the war in Iran?

"Iran did not present a clear and present danger to America. Further, Iran's younger, more liberal generation was gradually challenging the older, extremist regime. U.S. intervention halted this progress and strengthened the extremists with vast new monetary resources. The president's ill-conceived and poorly executed Iran War ruined the world economy and likewise ruined our standing in the world. This is the second time in my life that Iran has owned and humiliated a weak and incompetent president. I support the constitution and its placing of war authorization in the hands of the people's congress and not with the emotional whims of one man."
