Editorial nonpartisanship and independence policy

Body

Citizens Count pledges to uphold editorial nonpartisanship and independence. We retain full authority over editorial content to protect the core values of our organization.

Citizens Count aims to reflect the diversity of the New Hampshire community in its staff, editorial choices, and priorities. We commit to producing original content and cultivating a work culture that are both vigorously nonpartisan. Whenever we consult an expert during our content development process, we will seek out at least one other expert with an opposing point of view. All of our original content is reviewed by an editor specifically for bias or partisanship. We welcome feedback from the public and elected officials whenever they perceive bias or partisanship in our work.

We also maintain a firewall between content development and sources of all revenue. Acceptance of financial support does not constitute implied or actual endorsement of donors or their products, services or opinions. We accept gifts, grants and sponsorships from individuals and organizations for the general support of our activities, but our content judgments are made independently and not on the basis of donor support.

Our organization may consider donations to support the coverage of particular topics, but our organization maintains editorial control of the coverage. We will cede no right of review or influence of editorial content.  Click here to read our donor transparency policy.

Lastly, Citizens Count staff originate all articles on our website. At Citizens Count, we may use technology, including Artificial Intelligence, to assist in the research, drafting, or formatting of content. However, every piece of content is carefully reviewed and edited by our staff to ensure accuracy, fairness, and the absence of bias before it is published.

Thank you to our sponsors and donors
