2020 PRESIDENTIAL RACE

The list below shows all current Democrat and Republican presidential candidates who have raised at least $500,000 according to the Federal Election Commission. New Hampshire's first-in-the-nation primary took place on Tuesday, February 11, 2020. Click here to see the results.

The Democratic National Convention to choose a nominee for president and vice president will take place July 13-16, 2020.

Although vice presidents often go on to seek the presidency (George H.W. Bush and Al Gore, for example), Biden declined to run in 2016, due in part to the death of his son in 2015. He is the only former vice presidential candidate running this year.

Bloomberg is the former Mayor of New York City and founder of Bloomberg L.P., a financial company.  He is also the a founder of Everytown for Gun Safety (formerly Mayors Against Illegal Guns).  Bloomberg skipped the New Hampshire presidential primary and is focusing on other states.

Buttigieg is the mayor of South Bend, Indiana. On his campaign website, Buttigieg describes himself as "a millennial Mayor, Afghanistan war veteran, and husband." He's also making history as an openly gay candidate for president.

Gabbard is a fourth-term representative from Hawaii. She was an early endorser of Bernie Sanders in 2016. She is also an Iraq war veteran.

Klobuchar is a fourth-term U.S. Senator from Minnesota. In 2016 the Democrats lost most of the Midwest to Trump, so some analysts believe a midwesterner could help defeat Trump.

Even though Sanders lost the presidential primary in 2016, he has stayed in the spotlight fighting against Trump's policies and proposing universal health insurance. Sanders enters the 2020 race with the benefit of significant name recognition and a national fundraising network.

After making his fortune as a hedge fund manager, Steyer turned his attention to political activism. He has focused on fighting climate change and impeaching President Donald Trump.

Warren has sparred with Trump on more than one occassion, and brands herself as a watchdog for Wall Street. She was an academic before winning the U.S. Senate seat in Massachusetts.

Rocky is a California businessman who also ran in 2016. He is a moderate Republican who opposes a border wall.
