HB 461 (2023)
Study impact of cut police, firefighter jobs on retirement system
This bill did not become law.
Requires local and county government employers to obtain an analysis from the New Hampshire Retirement System when eliminating or transferring a police/firefighter position from full time to part time. Employers would have to pay higher retirement contributions and a penalty for these positions.
The Senate amended the bill to instead establish a committee to study elimination by political subdivision employers of a retirement system position.
A conference committee of representatives and senators failed to agree on a final version of the bill.
