Summary:
Generally prohibits balance billing for emergency services.
According to Sen. Tom Sherman, writing on behalf of the Senate Health and Human Services committee, "SB 287 modifies insurance coverage to reflect changes in federal law and clarifies coverage related to emergency services. ... SB 287 as amended will make great strides in protecting New Hampshire citizens from surprise bills and codify the federal No Surprises Act at the state level, preserving New Hampshire control over that process and avoiding federal preemption."
