This bill increases the penalty for vandalizing public property from a violation to a misdemeanor if the damage exceeds $1,000. This bill also amends the law governing pre-trial release. For example, this bill allows courts to presume that a person accused of certain violent crimes is a danger to the public and hold them up to 72 hours after arrest. Lastly, this bill requires an employer to release information about an employee upon request by a law enforcement agency conducting a background check on the employee for a position as a law enforcement officer.
