Seacoast Online Voter Guide, 2024
"Here in NH, we need to take a collective approach when tackling the housing crisis. We need to work together to build a future where every Granite Stater can afford to live, work, and thrive. It maddens me to see folks that have lived here for generations forced out of their homes due to unsustainable tax increases and the cost of living. It equally saddens me to see the next generation unable to live and raise a family in their original hometown due to staggering costs.
"Let’s take a look at the historical data, and see what has led us to this point. For example, we had an influx of new homeowners moving here from out of state during Covid. All the while, enduring a shortage of workforce and supplies. This in part, has led to a shortage of homes. Solving this housing crisis requires input from all sides. I will work with state and local officials, business leaders, and the private sector to find real solutions. Let’s streamline the state permitting process to speed up construction, and cut unnecessary regulations that slow down housing development. Let’s tackle burdensome regulations that hold New Hampshire back. We must continue to respect local decision making while partnering with communities. It is also crucial that we make sure the lower income housing is going to legal residents."
