Do you support the “Education Freedom Account” program, which gives students access to the per-pupil share of state school funding to spend on private school or home school expenses?
"Public education funding should go to public schools, whether a standard public school or a public charter school."Against| Read My Position

Should New Hampshire ban abortions during the first trimester (e.g. after 6 weeks gestation)?
"Decisions about women's reproductive health should be made by the woman in consultation with health care providers, family members, and spiritual advisors. The government should not be interfering."Against| Read My Position

Should NH add an income tax on earned income?
"Although income tax is fairer than the current method of funding most government services with a local property tax, it is currently not practical to put one in place."Undecided| Read My Position

Should NH add a broad-based sales tax?
"In order to reduce our excessive property taxes, the state needs to provide more revenue sharing with municipalities to help with schools and infrastructure. This can only happen if the state has more revenue. One option might be a sales tax, although I am not fond of them. The details of how it would be implemented would matter a lot. Sales tax on food or basic clothing is not acceptable."

Should New Hampshire lower business taxes?
"Business profits taxes (BPT) are largely paid by large out-of-state corporations. Over 75% of BPT revenue comes from the less than 1% of businesses that have taxable profits of over a million dollars. 76 percent of businesses that file have zero BPT and another 8% pay less than $1,000 in BPT. Large corporations benefit from the infrastructure and the educated work force that New Hampshire provides. They can and should pay to support those."For| Read My Position

Should New Hampshire add a tax on capital gains?
"Investment income beyond a certain level is classified as unearned income. There should be a low end exemption to protect retirement income and there should be an exemption for business and farm property that is passed down to new generations or owners, but capital gains received through stock and bond market investment should be taxed to provide revenue to use for property tax relief."

Should the state do more to encourage municipalities to remove zoning barriers to housing development?
"We have a significant housing shortage in New Hampshire. One contributing factor is outdated zoning regulations. The state should make it easier for towns and cities to revise their zoning to encourage more housing, but should also recognize that the towns often know more about infrastructure constraints that can affect development."For| Read My Position

Do you support legislation to expand the net energy metering system capacity cap from 1 MW to 5 MW for all residential and commercial customers in New Hampshire?
"The more energy we can produce in-state, the less fossil fuel energy we need to import from far away. This will help moderate energy costs."For| Read My Position

Do you support New Hampshire’s current system of public school funding, with about two-thirds of total funding coming from local property taxes?
"Property values vary widely from town to town. A town with lots of vacation property and few students might have very low tax rate, while a town with mostly primary residential property and a few businesses ends up with a very high tax rate and struggles to provide for schools effectively."For| Read My Position

Should New Hampshire legalize the recreational use of marijuana by allowing home-growing and private use without sales?
"Marijuana should have restrictions similar to alcohol. Like alcohol, it is not harmless, but with appropriate rules, the risks can be minimized. If it is grown and sold by private business, it should be regulated and taxed. However, the state should not be in the business of promoting the use of intoxicating substances."For| Read My Position

Should New Hampshire raise the minimum wage?
"The $7.25/hr federal minimum wage is impossible to live on. The exact amount of a minimum wage would need to be determine by study, but it should be enough to allow a person to pay for food and shelter."

Should NH pass stricter gun control laws?
"While most gun laws in the state work reasonably well, we are poorly prepared for individuals whose mental state may pose a threat to themselves or those near them. The National Rifle Association has model legislation for a limited red flag law that we should consider passing."
