US House NH District 1
The U.S. representative for New Hampshire's 1st District serves the interests of that district's residents as federal laws are made in Congress in Washington, D.C. He or she is elected by the voters of that district every two years on the first Tuesday in November. Candidates for that November election are chosen by political parties through a primary election earlier in the year, the date of which can vary.
Newly elected U.S. representatives take office on the first session day of a new Congress, which is on or after January 3rd. (The date is set by Congress.) This January, the current officeholder will depart and Chris Pappas will become New Hampshire's U.S. representative for District 1.
