US House NH District 1

The U.S. representative for New Hampshire's 1st District serves the interests of that district's residents as federal laws are made in Congress in Washington, D.C. He or she is elected by the voters of that district every two years on the first Tuesday in November. Candidates for that November election are chosen by political parties through a primary election earlier in the year, the date of which can vary.

Chris Pappas has served as a U.S. Representative since 2018. Prior to that he served as an executive councilor. (His family is also known for their world-famous chicken tenders at the Puritan Backroom Restaurant in Manchester.) In Congress Rep. Pappas is more moderate than many of his Democratic colleagues, and broke with the Democratic majority on bills from the Laken Riley Act to the Middle Class Borrower Protection Act.

Chris Bright is a businessman and U.S. Army veteran who lives in Derry, New Hampshire. He wrote on Facebook, "As a political outsider, small business owner, and combat veteran, I know what it's like to run a budget for a family of five, build a small business from scratch into a national company that was recognized as one of the fastest growing companies in the country, and deploy in defense of my country and our ideals. I'll take that real life experience to Washington where it is so sorely needed."

Hollie Noveletsky is a business owner and former U.S. Army reservist. Her website states, "Hollie Noveletsky is scrappy, adventurous, and decisive – she doesn’t wait for the perfect plan to formulate, she jumps in with two feet to a challenge, figures out where she lands, and starts swimming from there." She announced her campaign in October 2023.

Former executive councilor Russell Prescott jumped into the Republican congressional primary in July 2023, and he has been building a base of support ever since. In his campaign announcement he wrote, "Our state’s leadership in Congress has forgotten the independent 'Live Free or Die' values we pride ourselves on in New Hampshire. We need a fresh voice who has the business and elected experience to change the status quo."
